Environmental Leadership Team

We are a Green Sancturary congregation. That was a beginning.

In 2010, we formed a Social Action Environmental Leadership Team (ELT), as we began to re-vision what it means to be a Green Sanctuary (or rather, an ongoing environmental social action program at First Parish). At least part of the reassessment is a result of our achieving 2009 Green Sanctuary accreditation from the UUA and our questioning of: what we should do next? How can we broaden and deepen our efforts?

The ELT mission: Green Sanctuary LogoThe Seventh Principle of our UU faith affirms our “respect for the interdependent web of existence, of which we are a part.” The Environmental Leadership Team is committed to providing leadership for this congregation in translating this principle into individual and community action . . .

We have moved our web page. Click on Environmental Leadership here to access the First Parish Social Action Environmental Leadership Team web pages.

Join us as we explore what it means to be a Green Sanctuary congregation. We will learn and act together.

First Parish in Concord is now officially a Green Sanctuary.

A Green Sanctuary is a congregation that...

  • Has received official recognition for completing the Green Sanctuary Program.
  • Lives out its commitment to the Earth by creating sustainable lifestyles for its members as individuals and as a faith community.
  • Is committed towards creating a religious community that has a fundamental, bottom-line, commitment to living in harmony with the Earth.
