COMMON CATHEDRAL DATES TO BE DETERMINED First Parish has established an ongoing relationship with Common Cathedral, a congregation composed mostly of homeless people that meets weekly on the Boston Common. Green Sanctuary This group seeks to heighten environmental awareness and promote earth-friendly changes within the Parish and in the larger community. Meetings of a core leadership group alternate from month to month with open meetings for all who are interested in attending. Many volunteer opportunities exist. Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry SAC partners with this 150-year-old institution in the heart of Boston to make a difference in the lives of children and youth in Roxbury. Be a mentor for a 6 to 12 year old through Stand High/Stand United; volunteer at Renewal House, a shelter for battered women and their children; tutor midle school and high school students after school through the Damien Funderburg Youth Program or help high school students apply to college through Funderburg Scholars program.
