Are you always dreaming of going to Italy? Did you know that Italy was a source of inspiration for many of our beloved Concord Transcendentalists? Are you looking for ways to connect with your fellow parishioners on a stimulating voyage? Then mark your calendar for the Transcendentalists in Italy Trip, which will take place from March 19 to 29, 2009. We will travel with Jenny as we trace the steps of the Transcendentalists in their journey through Italy. There will be many opportunities to deepen our connections to each other as we learn more about Emerson, Fuller, Parker and Hawthorne and understand how their experiences shaped their philosophies. Our itinerary includes Rome, Pienza and Florence, and is packed with visits to important classical sites such as the Pantheon, the Forum, the Vatican, Margaret Fuller's and Emerson's apartments in Rome, as well as visiting Theodore Parker's gravesite and the Brancacci Chapel in Florence. This will be an unforgettable experience of intellectual exploration with Jenny and friends. The tour package includes air, hotels, all breakfasts and many other meals, as well as all transfers, use of tour coach, guide services and admissions, and is approximately $4200. We will also be offering learning sessions in Italian language and culture, as well as on the Transcendentalists, before we go. There are a number of places available, so if you are interested, contact one of our committee members - Lillian Anderson ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
