Parish Notes

Pastoral Care Notes

During coffee hour, please come to the Pastoral Care table in the Parlor to write a “thinking of you” note to a parishioner who is on the pastoral list. (We will mail it for you.) Note cards are wonderful for the recipient, because you can read them more than once, and they are evidence that you are remembered. So please visit Margie at the Pastoral Care table.

Offering Envelopes

Offering envelopes for the new pledge year are in, and they have a new look-they are slightly larger, so checks and cash can be inserted without folding! They will be available downstairs after the service today.

Single Service and Annual Meeting

There will be a single worship service next Sunday, June 13, at 10:00 o'clock. The Annual Meeting will follow at 11:30 a.m.

Summer services

Summer services will be at 10:00 o'clock beginning on June 20, and will run through September 5. September 13 will be Homecoming Sunday, with services at 9:00 and 11:00 o'clock.

Summer Office Hours

The office at First Parish will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Monday, June 21, through Friday, September 3. Regular office hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) will resume on Tuesday, September 7. The office will be closed on Monday, July 5, for Independence Day; and Monday, September 6, for Labor Day.

Filling the Gap

Thank you to the 487 households who have pledged for the coming year! Pledges received to date total $802,737. Sadly, this total is $72,263 short of our goal of $875,000, which would allow us to continue with the same level of programming that we have currently. We are working on ways to narrow, or close, this gap; you may have received a letter last week requesting that you consider making a “gap gift.” Whether or not you received a letter, please consider making a gift now to help us sustain the programs and services that make First Parish such a special place.

What Brings You to This Meeting House?

The transition study team has now completed its coding and tallying of the data gathered from the survey and listening sessions. An official report to the Standing Committee will be made next week, followed by a presentation to the congregation at the First Parish Annual Meeting.
In an open-ended survey question inquiring about our major strengths here at First Parish, the most cited responses were Religious Education/Youth Programs; Social Action; First Parish's Music Program; Our Ministry; A Sense of Community; Our Congregation; Our Varied Programs and Activities; Openness/Welcoming/Inclusiveness; Our Sunday Services.
