Summer Donations Needed for Open Table

Attention: open in a new window. Print

As many First Parishioners know, Open Table is an amazing food pantry and meal program.  First Parish and other community organizations provide excellent support to Open Table during the school year and that is much appreciated.  However, as with other food programs, demand has increased during these difficult economic times and Open Table anticipates significant shortfalls during the summer months – when donations typically are low anyway.

I wanted to give you the information you would need in order to donate to Open Table on your own over the summer.  Donations are much appreciated, as Open Table typically feeds over 100 adults and 30 children each week.

Donations to Pantry A, the non-perishable food pantry part of Open Table:

         cereal

        coffee/tea

        canned fruit

        spaghetti sauce

        tuna fish/canned stews

        canned soups containing protein

        jelly

children's snacks for school or camp

        cooking oil

In addition Open Table regularly gives out pasta, mac & cheese, peanut butter, canned vegetables and all other non-perishable foods.

Another idea is to gear your donation to children.  For one child for camp or school, they need:

1 box of juice

2 snack sized apple sauces, fruit cups, or puddings

2 granola bars

2 small bags of cookies, or pretzles, crackers

1 can or box of mac and cheese, spaghettios, or chicken noodle soup

1 additional snack item

Another idea is a "breakfast bag" which includes a bag with breakfast food items - pancake mix, syrup, cereal, hot chocolate.

To donate the items go to the pantry located at 105 Everett St in ConcordThey are open every Thursday from 1:00-3:00 - you can simply bring the food by then and someone will be there to help you unload what you've donated.
