Team Covenants
13 September 2011
This do we covenant:
Team Relations
We will seek to know each other as friends by maintaining good personal relationships.
We will respect each other’s boundaries and offer criticism in a constructive manner.
When something is said that stirs us emotionally, we will hold an intention to be curious about the source of that emotion.
We will lift up those whose ideas and efforts bring excellent results while keeping ownership of all decisions within the team.
We will speak with one voice.
Meetings
Draft meeting agenda will be distributed at least two days before a meeting. Amendments and meeting materials will be distributed in response to the draft agenda before the meeting. The final agenda will be agreed upon as the first item after the meeting opening.
We value our own time as well as each other’s. We will gather for meetings on time, end meetings on time, and complete our work according to the agreed timetable.
Each team member has the right to “call the question” when discussion of a topic appears to have reached completion.
Discussions
While we expect our discussions to be collaborative we anticipate disagreement and conflict.
We will speak honestly in expressing our own thoughts and opinions. We will not attempt to speak for others.
We will disagree with respect for each other, judging only ideas.
We will maintain an intention of curiosity when an idea is expressed that raises an emotional response within us.
The group will ensure that all are given an opportunity to speak.
Process
We agree to be transparent with the congregation as we execute the interim process.
We agree to maintain confidentiality with regards to statements made by team members.
We will state rules, goals, and intentions clearly and agree to abide by the team’s decisions.
Team decisions will be stated in clear language and recorded at the time they are made. Recorded decisions will be published with the agenda for the next meeting.
